What do I wear for the Holidays?

Sometimes you get tired of wearing the same thing every year for the holidays don’t you? Or at least I do. I make it my mission in my daily life to wear a different “character” everyday. For example one day I may want to dress “preppy”, the next day I may want to dress “elegant” and the following “urban” it all really depends on my mood of that day. I think it’s a super fun way to keep your wardrobe fun and exciting instead of always having the same look.

Well this is something I also do every Holidays and you should try it too! Give your LBD the holidays off and try something new! There are so many different combinations that you can do, other than jus the usual “Little Black Dress”.

Here are some of my favorite Holiday looks that don’t involve a LBD…

SEQUIN MAXI SKIRTS

Image

This is a fun spin on maxi skirts, which you usually relate with the summer for a relaxed comfy look. But now in sequin it’s a whole new party skirt because you can dress them up or dress them down! Add a sexy plunge blouse and sky high heels for a holiday party, pair it with flats and a t-shirt for a fun day in the city, or wear it with a crop top for a girls night out! I’m definitely trying this one! 😉

Get these skirts for under $100!

THE TUXEDO SUIT

Image

The Classic Tuxedo suit is a great substitute for the LBD when you want to feel a little masculine and show them who wears the pants! Play with colors and wear a red or white one for the holidays, but make sure you get it tailored to your fit because otherwise it will just look like you’re going to work…and that’s not the look we’re going for here!

THE HERE I AM DRESS

Image

If you’re going to wear a dress for a holiday party, make it a memorable one. It’s a special time and your dress shouldn’t just be a regular one, make people say “WOW” when you walk in….and when you leave. I suggest Rent The Runway. For those of you who don’t know what it is, it’s a website where you can rent… yes I said rent, designer gowns at a fraction of the cost, letting women have that cinderella moment for one night. You get to rent the dress of your choice for 4 days and a second size for free incase it doesn’t fit. For those of you who live in New York City you can actually go and try on the dresses now as they have two showroom locations! {SoHo and 5th Ave inside of Henri Bendel}. The only catch is you have to be a member to be able to rent, it’s free but you have to wait to be approved. {Very exclusive stuff}

FALL IS HERE!!!

Fall is officially here and I could not be more excited! It is definitely my favorite season as far as weather, fashion and also MY BIRTHDAY! I always say I was born into the perfect season! Haha! Now that I am living in New York City I actually get to experience every season and most importantly…dress for it! Lol so to start off I want to share my Top 5 favorite Fall trends with you that I am loving!

Here we go…

Thigh-high socks! These look so cute with skirts, shorts and stockings or dresses and cardigans. PERFECT for Fall!

over the knee socks

Wool hats! I absolutely love a good hat…they’re not just for bad hair days Lol. These can complete any look…my favorite, the maxi dress and boots…add a wool hat and voila you have a full on “diva” outfit!

Boots and booties! Boots are so much fun because they come in so many different styles and shades of colors. I always say have a good “go-to” pair that you can wear with ANYTHING!

boots

Coats! I think i’m most excited for coats because they just look so chic and elegant… plus Florida is not so coat friendly! Lol pair your coat with a nice dress, tights and pumps and you will have everyone staring. It’s a lovely look!

Tights and dresses! My FAVORITE Fall trend! I think it’s so much fun to play up your dresses especially if it’s a dress you got in the summer and want to transition it into Fall, add some tights, booties and a scarf and your summer dress…is now a Fall dress!

I play dress up today at the PLT offices!

Today I went to visit the Peace Love Threads offices to see their new Fall 2013 collection and sit down with PLT founder Tasha Moore to talk about styling for their Fall 2013 look book! It’s going to be such an amazing collection including some exclusive vintage pieces (that I totally must have) Lol! I had so much fun trying on the pieces and going over photo shoot concepts! Being a stylist sure has it’s perks! 😉
